Book Review: Summer Rental

I just finished reading Mary Kay Andrew’s latest, Summer Rental. I really like her books. They typically take place on a southern shore or island. This one takes place in Nags Head, NC. It’s about three 30-something women who have been friends since childhood and they meet in Nags Head from various locations to spend the month of August together. They intend it to catch up and get away from their lives. They each have their own personal issues to work out and share with one another. There’s also a woman who happens to come into the picture and ends up renting a room in the house and there’s the issue of their landlord. These two characters have their own lives to work out as well. Andrews weaves a story of how these five characters interact and get their lives figured out.

This book has a little bit of mystery, fluffy chick lit, and romance. I definitely give it my recommendation for a good summer read. You can probably tell since I finished it quickly. I mean I just finished Bossypants!
